Union Rural Development minister Jairam Ramesh on Monday trashed Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray's comments that nomination of cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar was the 'dirtiest play' of Congress.
"My understanding is not that," Ramesh said, in an apparent dig at Thackeray’s interpretation of Tendulkar’s recent nomination to the Upper House as Congress’ "dirty play."
Dismissing Thackeray’s remarks, the Rural Development minister told reporters here that Tendulkar is a famous Indian cricketer and has been among the 12 nominees for Rajya Sabha. The Shiv Sena chief’s remarks before media came yesterday in Mumbai.
