J&K gets over Rs156 crore as drought relief from Centre

Jammu and Kashmir has received Rs156.79 crores from the Centre to provide relief to the 2009-10 drought hit areas of the state, minister for revenue, relief and rehabilitation Raman Bhalla said today.

The state had requested for the central assistance in the wake of the drought of 2009-10 and the high-level committee had accordingly approved this amount for drought management in J&K, he said.

Bhalla said it includes Rs90 crore for agriculture input subsidy, two crore for drinking water supply and Rs64.79 crore for assistance for providing free ration to the affected families for 90 days during the period of 2009-10.
