Indian radiological meet gets going in Ahmedabad

The three day event was officially inaugurated by the health and family welfare minister, Jaynarayan Vyas at Karnavati Club.

The 63rd annual congress of Indian radiological and imaging association (IRIA) was formally thrown open on Saturday.
The three day event was officially inaugurated by the health and family welfare minister, Jaynarayan Vyas at Karnavati Club. The event which was attended by doctors from across the globe also saw three doctors from Gujarat - Dr Narendra Patel and Dr TN Jasani of Ahmedabad and Dr NA Dave from Vadodara being given the lifetime achievement award.   

Also Dr Kishor Tavera from Maharashtra was given charge as president of IRIA by the now former president, Dr Prabhakar Reddy.  At the conference about 150 scientific papers and around 200 research papers will be presented.

According to chairman of scientific committee, Dr Hemant Patel, 4000 delegates are taking part in the event which includes around 650 radiologists from Gujarat. Commenting on the event, Vyas said "The government is aggressive in upgrading the healthcare and medical facilities in the state.

For this, the government is also planning to double the number of medical seats by next year so as to increase the skilled manpower."
