Indian Coast Guard chopper fails to take off after wheel-collapse in Daman

The chopper got tilted, when its left wheel of the chopper collapsed, while it was taxiing on the runway for take-off.

Crew of a Chetak helicopter, belonging to the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), had a narrow escape in Daman today, as the chopper got tilted, when its left wheel of the chopper collapsed, while it was taxiing on the runway for take-off.

"One of the wheels of our Chetak helicopter collapsed before it could take off, however no one was injured in the incident. It was a technical snag," ICG DIG AK Pokriyal told PTI.

The helicopter was going in for a flood relief operation being carried out in Valsad district of Gujarat, ICG spokesperson said.

The incident occurred when pilot and co-pilot had taken out the helicopter from the hangar and were taxiing it, sources said.

The main rotor blade of the helicopter was damaged in the incident after it got tilted, they added.
