In order to enhance the facilities provided to its students, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Ahmedabad, is setting up a new building next to the existing building in Naranpura. ICAI has been introducing several changes either in the syllabus or in its system of examinations to make the course more application-oriented.

The institute has been making these changes to make sure that it does not lag behind in providing quality education to its students, said officials.

The new building to be built on an area of 1200 square yard is expected to be ready in six to eight months. "A committee has been appointed by Delhi associates to monitor the setting up of the new building. The building would have an auditorium with a seating capacity of around 400, a parking area, cafeteria and a students' section," said Jainik Vakil, vice-chairman of ICAI, Ahmedabad. He said the new building would provide better facilities to the students.

"The new building will be connected by a bridge to the existing building. We are focusing on improving the facilities being provided to the students," said Niren Nagri, chairman of ICAI, Ahmedabad.

Architects are yet to finalise on the designs of the building, said sources.
