Hunt on to nab rapist-murderer in Surat

Officials of Pandesara police station initiated the hunt to nab the rapist-murderer of the minor girl whose dead body was found on Thursday, but more than 24 hours after the incident, they have failed to get any clue.

Cops interrogated more dozens of suspected persons on Friday and even held two of them. However, till late in the evening, no one was arrested by the police.

To solve case of nine-year-old Preeti (name changed), who was raped and murdered by an unidentified person near a rivulet at Bamroli in Pandesara, cops sprung into action on Friday. Police officials visited the site to seek some evidence, if any, left by the culprit. They searched scene of the crime, but according to sources, failed to find any clue that could help them.

The police interrogated local residents, those suspected of committing the crime or being involved with the rapist. Sources added that two persons have been held by police in the case, who were being interrogated till late in the evening.
