Hooghly sadhu's arms blown off by bomb

The sadhu, identified as 78-year-old Sailen Das, was handling a bomb at an isolated place on platform number three of Baidyabato railway station when it exploded around noon blowing both his arms off, sources said.

A sadhu who sold vegetables for a living had both his arms blown off by a bomb today at a railway platform in Hooghly district, police sources said.

The sadhu, identified as 78-year-old Sailen Das, was handling a bomb at an isolated place on platform number three of  Baidyabato railway station when it exploded around noon blowing both his arms off, the sources said.

The police suspected that the sadhu selling vegetables could have been a cover for something else.

Since the incident occurred at an isolated place on the platform there was no panic at the railway station.

Das lived in a slum at Paschimpara behind the railway platform.
