Hooch tragedy: Three cops suspended, 11 bootleggers arrested

Gujarat Home Department today suspended three more policemen, including a deputy superintendent, in connection with the hooch tragedy that has claimed over 130 live.
 
With this, 14 police personnel from three districts -- Kheda, Anand and Ahmdabad-- have been suspended in connection with the hooch tragedy, police sources said.
    
Continuing the crackdown on those responsible for the hooch tragedy, 11 bootleggers, including 10 women, were today
arrested in Ahmedabad, they said.
 
D D Damor DySP of Kapadwanj range in Kehda, under which Mahemdabad taluka where the spurious liquor was brewed\ falls, was suspended by the Home Department, police official said.
 
"The DySP (Damor) has been suspended for his inability to stop the transport of spurious liquor from Mahendabad to Ahmedabad," District Superintendent of Police Himanshu Shukla said. "He has been transfered to Amreli," he added.
 
Damor was the DySP of the area where the main accused of the hooch tragedy Vinod Chauhan alias Dagri, who has been arrested brewed the spurious liquor spiked with mehtanol.
 
Circle Police Inspector (CPI) D T Vadalia, and Vasad SI, S D Patel, of Anand district were also suspended today, district police officials said.
 
Vadalia and Patel were posted in the area from where another accused in the case Jayesh Thakkar operated, they said.
