Heroin worth Rs5 crore seized in Punjab, 2 held

Punjab police today claimed to have seized one kilogram of heroin worth Rs5 crore in international market from a car and arrested two persons who were travelling in the vehicle.
 
The contraband was found concealed in a polythene bag kept under the rear seat of the car and Balbir Singh, who was driving the vehicle, and Rajesh Kumar were arrested last night.
 
Two other persons identified as Bhupinder Singh and Sunil Kumar, however, managed to escape, the police said in a press release, adding raids are being carried out to arrest them.
 
Police said investigation has found that both the arrested persons had earlier been held in similar cases.
 
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at police station Sultanwind.
