Hemant Pujari aide arrested in Uttar Pradesh

An associate of Mumbai gangster Hemant Pujari was today arrested from Khalilabad township here, a senior police official said.
     
Avdhesh Kumar Shahni (35), hailing from Jungle Kala village in the district, was arrested by police following a specific information, SP Sugriv Giri said.
     
About a dozen cases of murder and ransom were pending against Shahni in Mumbai, Giri said, adding that the accused had admitted to having worked with Pujari.
     
Shahni, who was on a visit to his native village, had gone to Mumbai for some work in 1994 where he came in contact with Pujari and got involved in crimes, the SP said.
     
The Mumbai police has been informed about the arrest, he said.
