Normal life was affected yesterday and today due to heavy rain that lashed several parts of Ramanathapuram district.
 
The fisheries department officials have asked fishermen not venture into the sea for fishing.
 
The maximum rain fall in the district was recorded at Mandapam 87mm followed by Ramanathapuram 77.4mm,during the last 24 hours that ended at 0830 am today.
     
Rameswaram recorded 56mm, Pampan 44.09 mm, Keezakarai 34mm and Thangasimadam 29.2mm,officals said.
