Heat wave sweeps Punjab, Haryana

Heat wave conditions continued to persist in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh today with Amritsar and Hisar turning out to be the hottest places in the region at 42.4 degrees Celsius.

Heat wave conditions continued to persist in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh today with Amritsar and Hisar turning out to be the hottest places in the region at 42.4 degrees Celsius.

While the maximum temperature at Hisar in Haryana settled three notches above normal level, Amritsar was hotter by two notches than normal, the Met office said here.

Ambala in Haryana experienced sizzling heat at 41 deg C, two degrees above normal, while Patiala in Punjab recorded the day temperature at 41.7 deg C, up three degrees, and Ludhiana 41.3 deg C, two degrees above normal.

Hot weather also prevailed in Chandigarh, which recorded a high of 40 deg C, up by a degree.

The weather office has forecast mainly sunny weather in the region tomorrow, with possibility of further increase in the mercury at some places.
