Hearing in Ludhiana scam adjourned; Amarinder fails to turn up

Ludhiana: A local court today adjourned to December 19 hearing in the multi-crore Ludhiana City Centre scam case, in which former chief minister Amarinder Singh is one of the accused.

The case relates to alleged real estate scam in connection with developing a Rs 3,000 crore project taken up by the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT).

Amarinder, his son Ranninder Singh and son-in-law Ramminder Singh alias Richhi are among the accused. They are accused of colluding with a developer in the project and earning financial benefits in 2006.

Sessions Judge S P Bangar has adjourned the case to December 19 as Amarinder and Ranninder had obtained exemption from personal attendance in today's hearing.

Davinder Anand (an official of Todays Home), Harpreet Sandhu, a former additional advocate general Punjab and Gurdial Kaur, a former trustee of Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) were also not present in the court.

Spread over 25 acres, the projects would have shopping malls, 12 multiplexes, residential apartments, helipad and parking slot.
