We can harness the potential of youths to solve the problems of the country.

A workshop in the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) on Tuesday will not only carry forward this idea but also present examples of such innovative solutions from the students of institutes like CEPT and other engineering colleges.

The multi-stakeholder workshop called 'Bridging Academia - Industry Gap: A Consultation to Create Collaborative Platform' at IIMA on February 3 will revolve around the website called 'www.techpedia.in' which has successfully archived more than one lakh projects of engineering students.

While most of these projects are innovativesolutions to various kinds of problems, the idea of techpedia.in which is supported by SRISTI is to make these innovative projects accessible to different stakeholders who can take them forward and help materialise them and address relevant issues.

Techpedia.in also pulls together various real life problems such as those of industries and presents them to students.

IIMA professor and founder of SRISTI Anil Gupta said, "The idea is that if 500 students attempt to solve one problem, at least one student will succeed. We will be harnessing the power of students by distributing the problems amongst them."

Talking about the potential of millions of students of the country, Gupta said, "The students of big institutions are not necessarily the best in solving problems.

The Chandrayan team does not have a single IITian nor does the Nano team. This proves that students from other institutions have tremendous capacity. They have the capacity even in their student years. So why not engage them right now. There is an India beyond IITs and IIMs."

The event will have the presence of different stakeholders to discuss existing issues of the web portal and possibilities and ways of taking the initiative forward.
