On Thursday, Pradeep Prajapati, former dean of Gujarat University's Arts faculty, met ACP BR Patel with all evidence against Gujarat University Vice Chancellor Parimal Trivedi and gave his official statement in the corruption case against the V-C.

During his marathon meeting running up to five hours with the ACP, Prajapati made startling revelations against the V-C. According to Prajapati, he showed all evidence he had got against the V-C, which was enough to prove that a mass-scale corruption and siphoning of money took place in the university.

In his statement, Prajapati claimed that the V-C had tampered with stamp papers related to the university development funds. "In the original stamp papers, the V-C had attached his note, but in 2008, he removed the note and made new documents. It proves that he has tampered with the documents," claimed Prajapati, who also alleged that the development funds collected from colleges were siphoned off, as there is no record available with GU after collection of funds.

Prajapati produced government audit report, which according to him, supports his claims. "The audit report mentions that university has not maintained annual accounts and budgets. The report alleges there is no clarity about GU’s transactions in the accounts," claims Prajapati.

Prajapati also hints at a fraud related to university bank deposits withdrawn by the V-C. "I also gave details about how he withdrew deposits of more than Rs7 crore, and re-deposited them after six months. There is no record of what happened to the amount during this period," he alleged.
