The state government has made the Gujarat State Wide Area Network (GSWAN) connectivity stronger by five times at taluka level to facilitate 'Aapano Taluko Vibrant Taluko' (ATVT) operations. The government's science and technology department completed the extension of networking and bandwidth connectivity within two months.

State additional chief secretary for science and technology Ravi Saxena said that the department has completed the work of increasing the bandwidth connectivity to the taluka level.

"We have connected all the talukas with enhanced bandwidth. Earlier, only eight megabits per second (Mbps) bandwidth was available from Gandhinagar to all the districts. This has now been increased to 34 Mbps."

He further said, "Earlier 2 Mbps bandwidth was only available from district level to taluka level which has now been increased to 10 Mbps. So, there will not be any connectivity issue in the functioning of ATVT. The idea is to get speedy access to the data stored in the central server in GIS; so applicants can get their land-related documents, certificates etc."

Emphasising the need to increase bandwidth, Saxena said, "As ATVT makes district-level applications available at taluka level Jan Seva Kendra (JSK), there was a huge bandwidth demand at JSK level. We have also introduced applications for food and civil supplies department for e-ration card where applicants can get their bar-coded ration card by applying online."
