Gujarat's animal husbandry dept takes precautionary measures against CCHF

While the state health department is all geared up to tackle the CCHF Virus, the state animal husbandry department is also leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the virus doesn't get transmitted.

The state health department immediately contacted the animal husbandry department soon after the virus was identified on Tuesday and it was learnt that it gets transmitted via ticks present on animals.

Dr AJ Kachhiapatel, director of state animal husbandry department informed that a team of veterinary doctors and expert had visited Kolat on Wednesday .

"We had sent a team of experts to Kolat to check on the animals there. However, on the basis of the team's report and screening of animals in the region, I can say that not a single animal was found ill. Moreover, we have also checked the animals' health history for the last one year and found nothing suspicious."

He further said that nevertheless animals have been sprayed with drugs that will eliminate ticks. Talking about CCHF virus Dr. J V Solanki, dean of faculty of veterinary science and animal husbandry at Anand Agricultural University said, "This virus has been discovered for the first time in the country, so very little information is available about it.”
