In a dramatic turn in the alleged ‘porngate’ scandal, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Gandhinagar, on Friday gave a clean chit to the two BJP MLAs accused of watching obscene material in the House on Tuesday. This has come as a big relief for the BJP even as the Opposition Congress is alleging foul play.  Assembly Speaker Ganpat Vasava announced in the House that he had received a report from FSL stating that MLA Shankar Chaudhary’s iPad was not used for viewing any obscene or objectionable material.

“The FSL report states that the iPad was not used for surfing internet before 1.00 pm on March 20,” Vasava said in the assembly.

He said that the device was used for surfing the internet after 1.00 pm, but none of the pages had obscene content. Assembly proceedings have been disrupted for the past three days following Opposition uproar over reports that MLAs Shankar Chaudhary and Jetha Bharwad had watched obscene material on the former’s iPad in the House. Quoting from the FSL’s findings, Vasava said that 4,161 images and 11 videos were found stored in the iPad, but none of them were obscene or objectionable in nature. “Under this situation, the charges against Shankar Chaudhary are not proved,” he added.
