Gujarat police to fill all vacancies soon

DGP Khandwawala says recruitment for 14,000 posts is being done.

Gujarat will be the only state with all vacancies filled in the police department soon. This was the message that DGP SS Khandwawala conveyed at the 53rd All India Police Duty Meet held in Gandhinagar on Tuesday.

Khandwawala said, "Recruitment for 14,000 posts of head constable and sub-inspector levels is being done.

"He also said that action has been taken to step up facilities for families of police personnel. Besides this, police personnel have also been instructed that one head constable or PSI goes to the home of a good citizen every day.

He said, "Police have also escorted many children on picnics. Besides this, post Diwali almost 20,000 police personnel went to the homes of citizens and exchanged pleasantries."

He also said that two new trophies have been introduced for participants of the meet.

Chief minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the event which saw a march past by police officials from across various states of India.
On the occasion, Modi talked about ways in which the police meet could be enriched with the help of expert police units from various countries in future.  He said, "Can we call experts or units of the police department from other countries to the police meet so that our police can get a global perspective."

He also asked whether two groups can be created within the police meet, one falling in the age group of below-40 and the other above-40 so that experience can be combined with vigour of young policemen.

He also posed the question whether youth can be given case studies in the meet to be solved within a short span of time as a value addition in the meet. Modi also encouraged the participation of women police personnel in the meet.

Various police related competitions were held at the meet in a bid to help enrich the overall knowledge of police officials. The meet aimed to help them to detect crimes in a much quicker way.

Homes minister Amit Shah, ADGP CID (crime) VV Rabari a d DGP (Home Guards) RMS Brar were also present at the event.
