Bapunagar police seized around 1,000 kg of beef after chasing down a truck on Wednesday. The chase took place early in the morning when GL Gohil, a police sub-inspector at Bapunagar police station, received information about a speeding truck on CTM road.

The Tata 407 truck was first asked to stop near CTM crossroads at 4.45 am by the police, which was out for routine checks. But the driver did not pull over and instead increased speed.

The information was quickly passed on to nearby stations and police vehicles. Responding to the call, PSI Gohil began the truck's pursuit when it was approaching the national highway near Bapunagar.

The driver of the truck tried his best to speed away, but finally gave up. He left the truck near Sundaramnagar, near Garib Nawaz Dargah at 5.10 am. When police checked the truck, they came across the reason behind the driver's desperate attempts at escaping.

The truck was loaded with 1,000 kg of beef, which costs around Rs50,000 in the market. Since the driver vanished after leaving the truck behind, the police is still clueless about the origin as well as destination of the truck and its contents.

According to the police, as the beef was being transported illegally, a complaint against the driver has been lodged in
Bapunagar police station.
