Raj Thackeray, chief of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) concluded his Gujarat tour on August 11 by saying that the people of Gujarat are fortunate to have Narendra Modi as their leader.

During his visit, Thackeray was in the news for his comments about Kutch natives living in Mumbai and that they (Kutchis) should be Marathi in Mumbai. Addressing the media on the last day of his visit, Thackeray said, “Gujarat’s people are fortunate to have CM Narendra Modi as their leader. There is a need for a leader like Modi at the centre as well.”

“Modi needs to ensure that Gujarat becomes well-developed and then he can concentrate on the country.”

He further said, “I like all places in Gujarat especially the roads. Gujarat is a power surplus state with more than 3000-4000 MW. It is a good business model. Gujarat is a professionally managed state.”

He also indicated that he didn’t like ‘bitter’ questions asked by the media during his tour. Talking about his comments on migrant people, he said, “Issue of migrants is everywhere, be it Delhi or Assam. All political leaders are making statements against migrants in their state. In fact, in Assam, migrants have been killed. There has not been such an incident in Maharashtra, but if Raj Thackeray speaks about migrants, he is criticised.”

Thackeray began his tour on August 3. After meeting Modi in Gandhinagar, he toured different places of the state and saw urban development projects like Sabarmati Riverfront, BRTS Janmarg and Kankaria Kids city in Ahmedabad. He also visited Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Bhuj and some industrial establishments.
