Gujarat Assembly speaker warns TV channels

Ganpat Vasava, Assembly Speaker, on Friday, warned TV channels, including news channels of stern action if they telecasted assembly proceedings without his prior permission.
Vasava said in the assembly, that the live telecast of the assembly proceedings was permitted inside the assembly complex only by him.

“However, it has come to my notice that some TV channels are telecasting the recordings without my prior permission, which is unauthorised. Legal action will be initiated against such channels for Breach of Privilege,” said the Speaker.

Shaktisinh Gohil, Leader of Opposition, who was suspended from the House for the remainder of the budget session by the Speaker on Friday, said that the order against TV channels telecasting assembly proceedings was to ensure that the truth was not revealed out in the open.
