Defence minister AK Antony today said government viewed the violence unleashed by Maoists in some parts of the country very seriously.
"It is a serious issue and government is taking it very seriously," Antony told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.
Asked about military action to combat Naxals, Antony said he did not want a public debate on the strategy to end Maoist violence. "I have my own opinion on this," he said.
"Prime minister Manmohan Singh has taken a decision that only the home ministry will react on the issue," Antony said.
