Against the backdrop of reports of judicial corruption, the government today said it is in the process of preparing a road map for judicial reforms in the country. Replying to an unstarred question in the Rajya Sabha, minister of Law and Justice Veerappa Moily said,"Reports of alleged corruption in judiciary have come to the notice of the government from time to time."

"The government is in the process of preparing a road map for judicial reforms in the country," he said but added that the government does not maintain any statistics regarding the number of complaints against the Judges.

Replying to another question, Moily said the Central Vigilance Commission had forwarded a copy of complaint containing allegations of corruption against a former chief justice of India. He said the complaint is being "looked into by the concerned agencies." He also clarified that there is no mechanism in the constitution for taking action against any retired judge of the Supreme Court or the High Court.
