With the aim of taking benefits of the internet to the common man, Google's internet bus began its journey in desert state of Rajasthan from today.

"The bus will travel across nine districts of the state in one month and provide an internet experience to the people of the state," said Sanjay Jain, project director of Google India.

"This endeavour would provide opportunity to emerging internet users to experience and understand the power of the internet," he said.

"The bus equipped with computers and internet facilities focuses on four themes of information, communication, entertainment and education. It would travel through Jaipur, Kota, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Udaipur, Pali, Jodhpur, Bikaner and Sikar districts," he said.

The bus will have informative contents in both English and Hindi to provide users with an understanding of how the internet can be used for all of these needs, he said.

The bus began its journey from Chennai, Tamil Nadu in February last year and has reached over 4,60,000 people, visiting 70 cities across five states including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh.

"This year, the bus will travel across various Hindi speaking states in north India in the next couple of months," said Jain.
