An online campaign against the film Dum Maro Dum is gaining momentum on networking sites.

A Goa-born youngster, presently living in Tanzania, has started a campaign against the "wrong portrayal" of Goa in the movie on  facebook. There are similar groups on Orkut too.

Trailers of DMD (film stars Abhishekh Bachchan, Deepika Padakone and Bipasha Basu), have enraged Goans, especially the dialogue mouthed by Bipasha Basu's character, `Here in Goa, liquor is cheap but girls are cheaper'.

"Appeal to all Goans to stand united against the defamatory and obscene depiction of Goa in general and women in particular in the trailer/clipping," Nawaz Sheikh has said on the facebook protest-page launched by him.

"We, Goans, can not bear this insult anymore," he adds.

Sheikh has got around 40 supporters on the facebook within a day.

On Orkut, one A B Kabuliwala, from Jaipur, writes, "It is a dialogue writer who is wrong, not Bipasha. So if you wanna slam someone go for Dialogue writer and Producer/Director who allowed such dialogue in the movie,"

A UK-based girl has posted on the orkut that "it shows mentality of movie maker and what type of sensation they want."

Dr Shekhar Salkar, who has supported the campaign on facebook, told PTI that Goa's image must not be tarnished. "I hope that after this controversy, the politicians will wake up," he said, adding that Censor Board should not have allowed some dialogue which harm the image of the coastal state and the local women.

The issue figured in Goa legislative assembly too.

A local media professional has filed a petition in the High Court, and the court has issued notices to the producer, the director and the distributor of the movie.
