Goa Medical College and Hospital Management has decided to form a three-member committee to investigate into an incident of ragging reported last week in the college hostel.

"We will have a committee of three senior professors who will probe the incident and report back to the anti ragging committee," Dean of Goa medical college and hospital (GMCH), Dr VS Jindal said.

He said that the anti ragging committee will be meeting sometime from now and will decide the members for the committee.

The incident came to the light when a faculty member caught nine senior students red handed while asking the juniors to kneel down and salute them.

All the nine students were arrested and suspended from the hostel.

"One of the professors who was taking round of the hostel saw the incident and immediately informed about it to the Dean," GMCH director SV Naik said.

The incident is first one in the state after the recent state assembly session adopted anti-ragging legislation recommending stringent penalty for such acts.
