Girl lodges rape complaint against SMC engineer

A teenage girl was allegedly raped by a Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) engineer by luring her with a promise of job. A complaint has been lodged at Varachha police station by the victim against the civil engineer.

According to the complaint, the victim, a resident of Varachha, was raped by Dilip Mehta, a resident of Ishwar-Krupa society at Adajan on November 5, 2009. The victim stated that Mehta, who is an engineer at Varachha zone, offered her a job in SMC, but instead raped her. Primary investigations revealed that Hansa Rathod, the maid working at the victim's house, also used to work at Mehta's house.

Hansa had asked Mehta to find a job for the victim, as her financial condition was weak. During Diwali, Mehta called the victim at his place and took her mobile phone number. Later, Mehta called the victim several times and asked her to meet him outside.

Mehta used to molest the victim physically in his car and threatened the victim of consequences if she revealed about the incident to anyone.
