BJP president Nitin Gadkari today accused Congress of misusing the CBI, Home Ministry and judiciary against the saffron party and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi.

"Congress is misusing the CBI, Home Ministry and judiciary against BJP and Modi. There is a conspiracy against the Gujarat CM," Gadkari said.

Gadkari pointed out that the affidavit filed by IPS officer Sanjeev Bhatt, implicating Modi of complicity in the 2002 communal riots, was filed after eight years.

"Even the retired DGP of Gujarat has said that Bhatt was neither present at the meeting nor was he invited for it," Gadkari told reporters at Maharashtra BJP office here.

"Modi is being targeted by Congress which is playing vindictive politics," the BJP president said, adding that "Congress cannot defeat BJP in Gujarat."

"They were badly defeated in Gujarat polls and there is a conspiracy against Modi. I condemn this," he said.

Rubbishing allegations that BJP national treasurer Piyush Goel has links with DB Realty, whose top executives have been arrested in the 2G spectrum scam, Gadkari said "Goel is not directly or indirectly linked to D B Realty."

On reports about arrest of former CWG organising committee chief Suresh Kalmadi, Gadkari said, "This (arrest) is only the tip of the iceberg."

"Kalmadi is not the only one. Others have not been arrested. CBI should take stringent action against those involved in the Commonwealth Games scam," he said.
