Friends kill Delhi Public School student in Etah

The boy was killed after his family said they did not have the money to pay the kidnappers a ransom of Rs50 lakh.

Azharuddin, a class IX student of Delhi Public School in Gurgaon, was kidnapped and murdered by his friends in Uttar Pradesh when his family refused to pay a ransom of Rs50 lakh.

“Azharuddin’s friends Manoj and Syed Aftab called him out of his house for an evening walk in Bhodasi, Gurgaon, on December 21 and then abducted him, “a senior police officer said.

Later Anish, Aniyansh and Ravi joined Manoj and Aftab and all five took the 16-year-old Azharuddin to Etah in Uttar Pradesh, the officer said. The boys then demanded 50 lakh from their friend’s family. When Azharuddin’s family said it wouldn’t be able to pay such an amount, the five boys killed their friend and burnt his body. Prem and Papu, both locals of Etah, helped the boys kill Azharuddin. The duo are still absconding

Azhruddin was a student of Delhi Public School, Bhodasi and Manoj and Syed Aftab lived in the same locality. The police could arrest the five accused by tracking the mobile phone of Azharuddin which they were using, the DCP said.
