Fresh clashes in Ahmedabad's old city, woman injured

Fresh clashes were witnessed today between members of two communities in Shahpur here in which one woman was injured, police said.

Members of the two communities pelted stones at each other and also torched some vehicles today in Shahpur which falls in communally sensitive old city area, they said.

Communal clashes were reported last night from the same area after a marriage procession took place near a Masjid during prayer time.

Police said that one woman is injured in today's clashes and she has been rushed to hospital. 

The situation, however, was brought under control with deployment of troops in the night itself, but, somehow, again
the groups resorted to stone pelting today, they added.

Fire brigade officials said that at least three fire tenders have been rushed to the spot so far.
