Freedom fighter Batakrushna Das passes away

Das was son of late Nilamber Das, known as Balasore Gandhi. He was jailed twice and got his training at Gandhiji's ashram at Wardha.

Veteran freedom fighter and an advocate of khadi, Batakrushna Das passed away after a brief illness here, family sources said.
    
He was 70 and survived by wife Jyoshnarani Das, two sons and two daughters.
    
Das who was admitted to a private hospital here for over week, passed away this morning in the presence of family members.
    
Das was son of late Nilamber Das, known as Balasore Gandhi. He was jailed twice and got his training at Gandhiji's ashram at Wardha.
    
Besides spreading message among the people on benefit of
khadi use, Das was also deputy-secretary of Orissa Khadi and Gamodyoga Society.
    
His eldest son Subraat Das, a journalist with The Telegraph lit pyre at swargadwar in Puri where the last rites were performed.
