Virendra Mehta a.k.a VB, the agent who allegedly worked for fraudster Chetan Mehta, has been nabbed by the Navrangpura police. The police arrested Mehta from Bharuch for allegedly acting as an agent for Chetan Mehta who duped people by promising jobs in Dubai.

Sources in the department said that Virendra Mehta was based in Mumbai. A native of Jamnagar district, Mehta has told the police that he separated from his wife a few years ago. Mehta had been touring various parts of the country after separation from his wife.

A police official said, "Mehta claims that he saw an advertisement in the newspaper about Chetan Mehta's firm. He then approached Chetan for a job. Chetan on the other hand asked him to handle his offices located in Bharuch and Vadodara."

Sources said that he had to close down the Vadodara office a few months back after it ran into losses. Virendra Mehta however kept the Bharuch office open. The office - Creative Management - saw many customers who were duped with Dubai job promise.

Investigating officer, PI KC Rathod, told DNA, "At least 125 people
based in Rajasthan, MP and Gujarat were duped by VB. In fact, VB claims that even he was duped as Chetan did not give him the commission that he promised." Sources said that VB was promised Rs1,000 to Rs1,500 for every customer he directed to Chetan.

Rathod also said that Virendra was nabbed after a cheque was deposited by him in the Dena Bank in Bharuch.

Sources said that a customer Vipul Shah had given him a cheque for the services he provided.

VB is right now in police custody after the metropolitan court here sent him to remand till January 25.
