Four Amarnath pilgrims killed in road accident on J&K highway

The incident occurred when when their vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge near Ramsu on Jammu-Srinagar highway this afternoon.

Four Amarnath pilgrims hailing from Punjab were killed and three others injured when their vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge near Ramsu on Jammu-Srinagar highway this afternoon.
           
The vehicle met with the accident when the driver was negotiating a curve near Ramsu, police said.
           
The vehicle was carrying pilgrims from Punjab, they said adding it was a part of today's batch of 85 vehicles which left from the base camp of Bhagwati Nagar here for onward journey to cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas.
           
Rescue teams have rushed to the site, they said, adding the identity of the victim was being ascertained.
