Former BJP youth wing leader Sudarshan Dhillon cremated

Former BJP youth wing leader Sudarshan Dhillon, who was shot dead by unidentified persons, was here today cremated amid tight security. 

There was hardly a dry eye when Dhillon's 9-year-old son Jaskirat Singh lit the pyre.

Punjab technical education minister Swarna Ram, former state BJP president Prof Rajinder Bhandari, former Punjab minister and Congress stalwart Joginder Singh Maan were among those present at the cremation.

Enraged over his death, many BJYM and BJP activists vented their anger against the state government and police for failure to protect BJP activists. 

They threatened to continue the Phagwara Bandh till the killers were arrested. 

The BJYM had given a call on Friday for Phagwara bandh for 72 hours owing to which commercial establishments in the city had remained closed for the last two days. 

Former block president of Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha's Phagwara unit Dhillon was travelling alone in his car when four armed men intercepted his vehicle and attacked him with sharp edged weapons on Friday. They later fired bullets from a close range into his head and killed him at the spot.
