Five of a family killed in boat mishap

Five members of a family died as their boat capsized in Bendgi Barakar dam reservoir in Hazaribagh district, police said today.

Govind Bhuiyan, 40, was returning to his field along with his wife and other family members yesterday from Barhi by a country-made boat, when the tragedy occurred.

As the boat reached mid-stream of the dam, the boat lost its balance and capsized, police said. Two bodies were recovered last night, while another three were found this morning with the help of divers, they said.
 
Three of the remaining family members, however, swam to safety. A magisterial enquiry has been ordered to ascertain the real cause for the tragedy so that measures can be taken to checking mishaps.
