The Surat crime branch arrested five more persons in relation to the murder case of financier Rajiv Shah, who was brutally killed by his business associates on October 11. With these, total number of arrests made in connection to the case so far has risen to nine.
According to police, Jitu Indori, a resident of Godadara, and Hiren Chauhan of Rander, were caught by DCB police late on Saturday night. They are believed to be close friends of one of the prime accused Mehul Lakhani. Police said the duo was present at the spot when Rajiv Shah was killed.

The police have intensified search for one more accused, identified as Deepak Vasu, even as three others were caught from Mumbai. The trio, identified as Navin Thakkar, Suraj Singh and Prasad Acharya, allegedly provided shelter to the three main accused after they fled from Surat.

Earlier, police had arrested Bhupat alias Policewala from Surat. Bhupta, who is said to have good contacts in police department, allegedly instigated the three main murder accused to kill Rajiv Shah. Bhupat, Chauhan and Indori were sent to police remand till Tuesday.

Rajiv Shah was brutally killed just below his residence by his business associates Mehul Lakhani, Hiren Kakadia and Amar Thakkar. The trio managed to evade police but was caught on last Sunday, two weeks after the crime.

Meanwhile, DCB sources said that a noted lawyer, who allegedly helped the trio flee from Surat, is also likely to be arrested.
