Five people arrested by the Dahod police in connection with the Kosamba loot were produced before the local court at Olpad on Monday. The court sent them to nine days of police remand. The mastermind behind the loot is yet to be nabbed. All the five arrested by Dahod police were handed over to the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Surat rural police. To gain further information in the case, the SOG produced them at a court in Olpad and demanded 12 days of remand.

The court however granted them nine days of remand. Police said that Naharsinh Reda, a resident of Retu village in Jhabua district, is the leader of the gang. He picked the team and prepared and executed the entire loot plan.

While investigating Reda and his associates police found that all the accused reached Kosamba in small groups on the same day.

They gathered at Kosamba railway station, where Reda told them of their plan of action. Cops said after looting the shop the accused took shelter in the bushes near NH no. 8.

They then reached Ankleshwar, in separate groups. “Reda and Malai distributed money among the members who returned to their villages. Malai and Reda are wanted in several cases across Gujarat,” said a top police official requesting anonymity.

SOG has formed teams and has intensified search to nab other accused and recover the valuables and cash.
