Fearing further damage or perhaps in an attempt to turn a deaf ear to party workers' demand,  Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan — the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee's (GPCC) headquarter, wore a deserted look on Friday afternoon.

The GPCC office, which usually sees a line up of premium cars and hustle and bustle of party workers, ticket seekers and their supporters, was locked up to keep protesters at bay.  Earlier in the morning an angry lot of angry party workers and supporters of certain candidates had thronged the GPCC office to stage their protest over selection of candidates for the upcoming municipal elections.

The disgruntled supporters had even ransacked the GPCC office to raise their concerns about candidate selection. This apparently forced the GPCC to shut its office.

Senior GPCC officials said they will not open the office until Sunday- after the names of candidates for the AMC elections are announced and nominations are filed in the collector office.

Meanwhile, disgruntled party workers and supporters from Sarkhej, Rajpur and Juhapura also thronged the GPCC office but there were no one to lend an ear to their complaints except for some party workers who were found roaming around the closed office.

A police van was also posted at the GPCC office in case of any untoward incident.
