ShareRanchi: Farmers should be covered by crop insurance and the Centre should pay the premium in the face of drought-like situation in the country, BJP president Rajnath Singh said today.

"There should be mandatory crop insurance for all farmers across the country to enable them to tackle the drought-like situation in several parts," Singh said here.
Since it would not be possible for small farmers to pay premium regularly, he said, the Centre should bear 75 per cent of it.
Asking the Centre to revive the Agri-income Yozana of the Vajpayee government, Singh said the progress of the country depended on the progress of farmers.
"And, farmers' progress depend on insurance of their land and produce," he added.
