The Navrangpura police have arrested one Stella Christian alias Falguni (30), a computer operator, for stealing cash worth Rs59,000 from the drawer of her office cash box. She used to work at Bharat Pertroleum oil station, Mithakali in Navrangpura.

Rising inflation prompted the accused to steal as she was not able to sustain her family and her ailing paralytic mother with the salary she earned. Falguni's mother, who is a retired police officer, instigated her to steal.

"During interrogation she confessed that she had stolen cash for sustaining her family and paying her mother's medicine bills," said a police source.
She made away with the company's money with the help of a duplicate key she had. Police sources added that the company's owner and the complainant, Chetan Solanki, suspected her of the theft, and that was when she was arrested.

The sources said that Falguni was divorced by her first husband and now currently is living with her second husband. "She has been named in the internal inquiry conducted by the company and later her name was mentioned to me," said UD Jadeja, investigating officer in the case.
