Engineering student commits suicide in Lucknow

Depressed over his performance in his studies, an engineering student allegedly committed suicide in Lucknow, the police said today.

19-year-old Zeeshan Hussain, a first year B.Tech student at a private engineering college, hanged himself from the ceiling of his house at Gomti Nagar, they said.

Hussain was under pressure as he was unable to do well in his examination, they said, adding that a suicide note was also found from the spot.

In a separate incident, 24-year-old Shobha immolated herself after having had a tiff with her husband over a petty issue in the Chinhat area, the police said.

The police said that on the basis of a complaint lodged by Shobha's father Jagdish, her husband Purshottam Yadav had been arrested on charges of abetement of suicide.
