The party also said whatever decision is taken by the Central and state governments will help restore normalcy in the state.
"We express our concern over the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the fact that elements from across the border, separatists and those inimical to the unity of our country are trying to create tension and violence," party spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan told reporters here.
She said, "We are very confident that people of the state will not fall prey to the designs of forces which are against the country".
Natarajan said the Centre and the state governments were seized of the matter and are "confident" that they will be able to restore law and order and peace at the earliest.
"At this time it is the duty of all political parties in the state to cooperate with the efforts of the government to restore peace and ensure that normalcy returns as soon as possible," the spokesperson added.
Asked about the deployment of the army in Srinagar, the Congress leader said "Whatever is in the interest of the state
will be done."
Natarajan evaded queries on the demand for the resignation of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah by opposition parties in the state in wake of the situation in the valley and said it was a "sensitive matter" and all the political parties have to face it jointly.
Asked whether the deployment of the army will prevent a political solution to the problem, Natarajan said the party was "always for a political solution".
"Army is still in the periphery... For flag marches. Whatever decision is taken by the CCS will help restore normalcy," she added.
