An eight-month-old boy was allegedly branded using hot iron rod to cure him of some ailment by a 'tantrik' (quack) in Vijaynagar taluk of the district, doctors of a private hospital said here today.
The incident took place on Saturday last when the baby's parents took him to a quack to cure him of some ailment he was suffering from since last few days, they said.
According to doctors, the quack branded the baby on the stomach five to six times using a hot iron rod.
Since the condition of the baby did not improve his parents brought him to a private hospital in the district capital Himmatnagar, where he is under treatment, they said.
Doctors of the private hospital said that they have informed the police who is investigating the case.
Police said they were investigating the case, and are in the process of filing a complaint in this regard.
