Drunk teen held for rash driving in Ahmedabad

The teen first hit a car and, as he tried to escape, hit a rickshaw before ramming into BRTS railing.

An 18-year-old student was arrested after he hit two vehicles with his sedan and rammed into the railings of BRTS corridor near Blind People's Association circle in Vastrapur on Tuesday evening. He was arrested in an inebriated state.

According to Vastrapur police, the accused first hit a car parked on the roadside. The car belonged to one Anil Patel, a resident of Dariapur.

The complaint said that soon after he hit Anil's car, he tried to run away and in the process hit an auto rickshaw before ramming into the railings of BRTS corridor.

The accident led to a traffic jam and a police team arrived at the spot. Police said that the driver of the car was arrested from the spot and he was found to be in an inebriated condition.

"The driver was found drunk when we caught him from the spot. When he hit the car parked alongside the road, he lost control and in order to run away, he hit another vehicle and then dashed against the BRTS railings," said a police official.

The police have booked the accused for rash driving under IPC and also slapped a prohibition case against him. According to police, the accused is a student of computer engineering in a Mehsana-based college and had come to meet his friends in the city. The car belongs to one of his friends in the city.
