Driver rapes girl, sodomises her brothers for 18 months

Delhi police arrested a driver on Friday for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl and sodomising her two younger brothers for the past one-and-a-half years.

A senior police officer said, “The victims are residents of Prasad Nagar in central Delhi. The girl, a class VII student, and her brothers studying in classes III and IV used to leave home for school in a private taxi. But taxi driver Lalit, 22, allegedly used to take them to his house.

“After drugging them, he used to sexually assault them. He had threatened the children that he would kill their mother if they told anybody about his heinous act. The children, whose father died sometime ago, were scared and kept quiet. However, around 25 days ago, the girl mustered courage and opened up to her mother.”

The mother, however, did not approach police. “Instead, she stopped sending the children to school,” the officer said. It is also believed that the driver had allegedly made some MMS clips. However, police did not confirm this.

The family has 5-6 rooms, which it has rented out. The rent is its only income.

“One of the tenants came to know about the children’s ordeal and informed his politician-friend, who approached police. Medical examination confirmed sexual assault on the children,” the police officer said.

“We have registered a case and Lalit has been arrested. Allegations of the driver’s friends also raping the girl are being looked into,” he said.
