With the DMRC planning to inaugurate the much-awaited Noida corridor by next week, its chief E Sreedharan today inspected tracks and stations on the line, that will bring a paradigm shift in the travel habits of millions of people in the National Capital Region.

The 13.1 km line from Yamuna Bank in east Delhi to Noida Sector-32, which was originally scheduled to be opened by the end of October, is likely to be inaugurated before the India International Trade Fair that begins on November 14.

Sreedharan boarded a trial metro train from the Yamuna Bank station at 9.30 am and inspected all the 10 stations till Noida Sector 32. He was accompanied by DMRC technical and signalling department officials.

DMRC officials said he got down at every station on the corridor and inspected tracks and stations. They said it was a routine check as the metro-rail corporation wants to inaugurate the line by November 14. The line is likely to be opened either on November 10 or 11.

Last week, DMRC began trial runs on the Noida corridor with the Metro crossing the national capital border and reaching its satellite city Noida for the first time. The corridor will be integrated with the existing 34.3 km Yamuna Bank, Dwarka Sector-9 extending the total length of Line-3 to 47.4 kms.

About 53,000 passengers are expected to join the new age transport system after the opening of the Noida corridor.

During the trial runs, the interaction of the Metro train with physical infringement (civil structure) was checked to ensure there was no physical blockage during the movement of the train on the track.

The response of the train at different speeds, braking of the train and the interconnection with Operations Control Centre (OCC) were also monitored during the trials. Decks were cleared for the DMRC to cross Delhi and enter NCR when Parliament passed a Bill to give legal cover for construction, operation and maintenance of the metro rail system in the National Capital Region and other metro cities.

The upcoming Metro stations on the much awaited Noida corridor will have a completely new and modern look with its exterior being made using a special technique called ACP (Aluminium Composite Panel).

This technique is mostly used in the exterior portion of malls and other new buildings to provide an aesthetic and modern look. The stations have been designed using a post modern architectural approach, keeping in mind the international appeal of the Delhi Metro.

Parking facility has been provided at all stations till New Ashok Nagar and in Noida at Botanical Garden and Noida City Centre Metro stations.
