They may have posted a disgraceful defeat at the recent civic and local body elections in the state, but it appears that workers of the grand old party are yet to learn a lesson. A disgruntled Mahila Congress worker created a ruckus at a meeting of the Ahmedabad City Congress, held at Shahpur on Sunday. She even attempted to slap the city Congress chief!

Chetna Parikh, it is being said, was unhappy at the fact that the party had denied her a ticket at the recent AMC elections. She is also remembered for having created a scene at a party meeting held in the Judges Bungalow area of the city on September 29, 2010. She is said to have hurled eggs and tomatoes at party leaders during that meeting.

Parikh put up a public display of resentment yet again on Sunday. The city Congress had convened a meeting of all ward presidents and the 192 candidates who contested elections under the party's symbol. The agenda of the meeting was to felicitate the winners, console the losers and plan a strategy for better performance at the upcoming Saijpur Bogha by-elections.

At this meet, Parikh is said to have got into a heated argument with Pankaj Shah. She even tried slapping him, but could not succeed due to the intervention of other party workers.

Parikh alleged Shah of misbehaving with her and using
derogatory terms for her over a phone call she made on Saturday evening. "I went to the meeting because I wanted an answer for his misbehaviour towards me," said Parikh.

She also alleged that Shah insulted her and asked her to leave the place, as she was not among the invitees. Furious, Parikh tried to slap Shah but the other women workers foiled her attempt. Parikh also alleged that senior Congress leader Narhari Amin threatened her of expulsion from the party. On the other hand, city Congress president Pankaj Shah accepted Parikh's coming to the meeting, but denied that any untoward incident took place.

"The meeting was only for candidates and ward presidents, and so Parikh was asked to leave the place as she was not invited," he said. He added that he does not know her any better than other party workers, and hence the question of misbehaving with her or abusing her does not arise.
