BSP Sunday accused Congress leader Digvijay Singh of being "anti-dalit", saying his statement on statues and memorials is indicative of his mentality towards the community.

"The allegation levelled by Singh during his press conference is indicative of his and his party's mentality. As per the written will of BSP founder Kanshiram, the statues of the national president of the party are being erected," a BSP spokesman said in Lucknow.

"Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh has anti-dalit mentality and is levelling baseless allegations," he said.

The spokesman alleged opposition parties of misleading people on the issue of expenditure on such memorials and parks.

"Less than 1 per cent of the state budget has been spent on these construction works and income from sale of tickets will be much higher," he claimed.
