The Blind People's Association (BPA) of the city attracted people from all over the state on Sunday as the institute had hosted an alliance meet for the physically handicapped. With around 155 differently abled participants registered from the state and other parts including Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad, the event was one of the largest matrimonial meets held in the state till now.

Organised by Lokseva Trust along with the support of BPA, the event saw special people with good, educated background trying their luck to find a good match.

"Even people with disability have a right to live a life and deserve a good life partner. There are many parents who do not take interest in searching a life partner for their disabled son or daughter. For them, this event served to be a great opportunity to find their matches," stated Bhimji Nakrani, managing trustee of the trust. Not only Gujarat or India, the meet witnessed NRI families present in the meet to search partners for their wards.

The trust, stated Nakrani, has earlier organised eight such alliance meets for Leuva Patel community, but this was their first effort to help the differently abled people and fill their lives with an understanding partner. Another event at BPS on Sunday felicitated 51 couples from all the over the state who have given birth to a daughter as their first kid and have opted her as their only kid in their lives.
